Magnolia Prime Co-Sponsors Staged Reading of “Vesta”

REDWOOD CITY, CA - January 19, 2010 - Magnolia Prime, Vitas Innovative Hospice Care and Palo Alto Medical Foundation are sponsoring a staged reading of “Vesta” on Saturday, January 23, 2010, 7:00 pm, at the First Congregational Church of Palo Alto (UCC). The church is located at 1985 Louis (at Embarcadero), Palo Alto, CA, 94303.

Here is a synopsis of the play:

This intimate 90-minute theatrical reading examines a family’s struggle when the matriarch is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. Following a series of complex medical, economic and personal issues, Vesta must confront loss of independence and, inevitably, her life’s end. The conflicts focus on the relationship between Vesta, her daughter and her granddaughter, and the decisions they must make about her healthcare.

The reading will be followed by a facilitated discussion of professionals from the medical, mental health, hospice and religious communities. The event is free and hearing assistance technology is available.

One hundred percent of the love donation received will benefit the VITAS Charitable Fund, Foundation for End-Of-Life Care.
