This recipe is from my aunt who now has dementia. I take out a small loan each year to make it, but it's worth it. It's not as bitter as fruitcake. I always use golden raisins but have used cranberries when I am short on dried fruit. It's so rich that you can easily serve a piece that is smaller than a brownie and it's very satisfying.

This is a holiday staple in my family. You can never have too much cheddar cheese. Kraft extra sharp cheddar is the best to use.
